Buddhist Philosophy Bot for Sinhala language prompts
In the rapidly evolving field of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs) like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard/Gemini have made a significant impact. Their ability to generate human-like text and provide intelligent responses across various domains has proven invaluable for students and researchers. However, a gap exists in their ability to deliver quality, accurate, and meaningful responses in specific languages, such as Sinhala.
In Sri Lanka, where Buddhism is predominantly practiced in the Sinhala language, this gap presents a unique challenge. While LLMs can provide answers to questions on Buddhist Philosophy in English, they often fall short in the Sinhala language. This limitation hinders those seeking to understand and study Buddhist Philosophy in their native language.
To address this, our research group is developing an AI-based bot focused on Buddhist Philosophy. This project involves fine-tuning an LLM to support queries in the Sinhala language. Our innovative approach aims to enhance the learning experience for students and practitioners of Buddhist Philosophy in Sri Lanka, providing them with a valuable tool for understanding complex philosophical concepts in their native language.
This project is one among several related initiatives carried out by our group, all aimed at leveraging AI to bridge language gaps and enhance learning experiences.",
